The School of Music is in the city of Kilkenny with access by foot to accommodation, shops, restaurants, pubs and tourist attractions. Kilkenny is a historic city which has a rich heritage of fine historical buildings, lively pubs, fine restaurants, wonderful shops and is an all year round tourist destination. Within two hours of Dublin and Shannon airports, the city is serviced with an intercity bus service and rail link. The nearest ferry port is Rosslare. WHERE TO STAY

The HHSI is not directly responsible for student accommodation, but is very happy to assist with accommodation questions. Early booking of accomodation is strongly recommended, as Kilkenny is a very popular destination in August.
This year's Scoil coincides with one of Ireland's biggest arts festivals - Kilkenny Arts Festival - so we would strongly advise, that if you are planning to join us, that you get your accommodation sorted out as soon as possible. There are six beds (in shared rooms) available in a wonderful and inexpensive self-catering house, which is within walking distance of the School of Music: these can be booked on a first-come first-served basis. We have also block-booked some (also sharing) B&B accommodation on your behalf, but the sooner we know you're coming, the easier it will be for all concerned.
